Fulham are close to wrapping up a deal for Aston Villa defender Aaron Hughes.

The Sun says the former Newcastle defender will link up with his former Northern Ireland boss Lawrie Sanchez at Craven Cottage.

Hughes, 27, travelled to London yesterday for talks with the West Londoners. Fulham still need to finalise a fee - but are believed to be willing to match the £1m that Villa paid Toon two years ago.
