Fulham boss Jol backing Schwarzer to play until he is 45

Fulham manager Martin Jol believes goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer can continue playing for another five years.

The 40-year old Australian international is out of contract at the end of the current campaign but Jol is confident of renewing his deal as he feels the former Middlesbrough man can play on until he is 45.

"If he's like he is now - still fit - then he can carry on until he's 45! That can change in a couple of months, especially with older players, but with keepers they're different," he said.

"If you look at (Brad) Friedel at Spurs who's even older, he's still looking good, but it depends on their fitness."
