Fulham manager Roy Hodgson believes Gold Coast United are a definite threat to beat his side in Wednesday night's pre-season friendly. Hodgson says at this time of year, his team will be underdone and after travelling may be tired, but he also complimented the way the new A-League franchise had performed during their pre-season.
"The reality is by the time we face Gold Coast we'll have had four training sessions, if you can call them that, under our belts," said Hodgson.
"They are more than capable of beating us at this stage of the season and possibly capable of beating us at any stage of the season.
"Of course we want to win but whether we're capable of doing that, I really couldn't say.
"At the moment I live every week in England on a knife-edge of victory and defeat and I'm not prepared to start dancing around on that knife-edge after just a few days of training in Australia.
"But players don't forget how to play football. Their memories of last season (when Fulham shocked the cognoscenti by finishing seventh in the Premier League) are fresh and they will try to give the Gold Coast a good game."
