Melbourne Heart have confirmed that attacking midfielder and captain Fred will be sidelined for about two weeks.
The Brazilian ace suffered a hamstring injury and had to be subbed off just after the half-hour of the Heart's 2-1 loss to Perth Glory on Sunday.
John Didulica, the Heart's general manager of football operations says the club will monitor Fred's progress over the coming days before determining a specific time line for his return.
"We are obviously disappointed that Fred will miss this weekend, but we'll take the most appropriate steps to ensure that when he returns he's 100 per cent ready," he said.
The injury will force Fred out of the Melbourne derby against former club the Victory on Saturday night.
