Fox Latin American Channels has agreed a renewal with MP & Silva for the TV rights to Italy's Serie A, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/. The broadcast group's Fox Sports cable TV network will carry live coverage of games from Italian soccer's top flight throughout the Central and South American region until the end of the 2017/18 season. It is believed to have seen off competition from rival ESPN.
"The renewal of rights as important as the Serie A Tim property is great news," said Francisco Pazmiño, the vice president of programming at Fox Sports Latin America, who pointed to the fact that over 100 Latin American players were plying their trade in Serie A as evidence of its appeal in the region.
Fox Sports also holds the rights to the Uefa Champions League and Germany's Bundesliga.
