Fowler refuses spot on bench as Fury and Brisbane draw

North Queensland Fury and Brisbane Roar drew 1-1 tonight, but it was the non-appearance of Robbie Fowler which was the big news. North Queensland Fury 1 (D.Williams 55th) Brisbane Roar 1 (L.DeVere 48th) Crowd: 7,610 Fowler reportedly refused to play after being told that he was to start the match on the bench, leaving the crowd shocked at the absence of the marquee player.

More bad news followed for the Fury - and moreso for New Zealand - when Kiwi international Jeremy Brockie was taken from the field with a suspected broken leg after a clumsy Michael Zullo challenge.

The match itself was an even affair, with both goals scored in the opening ten minutes of the second half.

Luke DeVere gave the visitors the lead in the 48th minute before David Williams scored seven minutes later for the home side.

The result leaves both sides with seemingly little hope of making the finals, with only three matches remaining in the home and away season.
