Forster can still make England World Cup squad while at Celtic - Bonner

Former Celtic goalkeeper Pat Bonner suggests Fraser Forster is good enough to push for England selection for the 2014 World Cup.

The ex-Newcastle United gloveman has been called up to the last couple of Three Lions' squads and even if he remains with the Hoops this summer, former Ireland international Bonner is confident he will join the likes of Steven Gerrard, Wayne Rooney and Joe Hart in Brazil.

"I think Fraser can get to the World Cup while he is at Celtic. I did," said Bonner of his World Cup representation at Italia 1990 and USA 1994.

"I played in two World Cups and also the European Championships (in 1988, 1992 and 1996).

"I played in Europe with Celtic and I also got that opportunity, so there is no reason why Fraser can't too.

"What he needs to do is just keep focusing on playing well for Celtic.

"The Champions League was a great opportunity for him and he proved to everyone he can actually play.

"Fraser has his foot in the door now and that is the hardest thing.

"And if England are serious about trying to develop his international career. they will have to give him a chance.

"He will have to play some time and it's up to him to be ready for it."
