Former Aston Villa manager Graham Taylor has reportedly given his backing for Steve McCLaren to take the job at Villa Park.
A report in the Express and Star suggests that Taylor is keen to see the ex-England and FC Twente boss take the reins after Gerard Houllier departed the club during the week.
Along with McClaren, ex-Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti, former Tottenham boss Martin Jol, recently-departed Fulham gaffer Mark Hughes and Wigan Athletic's Roberto Martinez are being linked with the job but Taylor has stated that he feels the 2010 Dutch Eredivisie winning-manager would do a good job.
So far, Villa fans have voiced their disapproval at this recommendation.
