Kris Boyd is looking forward to getting his career with Portland Timbers under way as soon as possible.
The former Rangers, Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest striker - who arrived in Portland last week - has commenced pre-season training with his new club and after sitting out a recent match against San Jose Earthquakes is keen to get out on the pitch and do what he does best.
"The first pre-season training session was tough, but I felt as though I fitted in well. I look forward to playing as soon as I can.
"I was lucky Kilmarnock let me train with them for a couple of weeks while I waited for my visa.
"I've played with a few American lads in my career, Mo Edu and Da Marcus Beasley at Rangers and Robbie Findley at Nottingham Forest. You know what you get from them - great athleticism and attitude, and it's up to me to get to that level.
"I'm here to score goals and I can't wait to get started.""I'll need a few training sessions before I'm ready to play, but if I can sleep past 4am I'll be happy," he said.
