Former QPR, Crystal Palace boss Dowie wants West Ham job

Iain Dowie has made it clear that he is interested in the vacant position at West Ham United.

The former Hammers striker has not been in the manager's seat since leaving Hull City last summer but insists he would love to head up a club such as West Ham even if they have fallen to the English Championship.

Sky Sports News.

"You never know if you will get that call or not, but I sense they may go for a slightly bigger name and look to make a statement. You would understand that and there is no problem with that.

"You always think you can add a bit of a difference and add a bit of value on the training ground. I always think it is important as a coach to develop players and I think my record is fairly good at that.

"I've always said given the right opportunity that would be right."

The former Southampton star has extensive experience managing in England's second and lower divisions, having stints at QPR, Oldham Athletic, Crystal Palace, Charlton Athletic, Coventry City and Hull.
