Former Newcastle United striker Nile Ranger expressed his disbelief at being awarded a contract extension by League One club Blackpool.

The 24-year-old has not played for Blackpool since featuring against Rotherham in November, but he received an e-mail from club secretary, Chris Hough, confirming that that the club would be activating the option clause in his contract.

Ranger posted a snapshot of the email on Instagram and his bewilderment at the decision was evident from the post.

The former Newcastle striker added the caption '#REALLY!?!' under the photo of the email.
