Former Leyton Orient owner Hearn: English clubs will all be owned by foreigners

Former Leyton Orient owner Barry Hearn feels English football clubs are being taken out of local hands.

Hearn believes it is only a matter of time before every football club in the country has got a foreign owner at the helm.

He told the Sunday Express: "I think the day when all 92 clubs in the country are owned by foreigners is coming now. I have always been opposed to foreign owners, foreign everything.

"That's because I am a little Englander, that is just me being restricted in my vision but the fact is football clubs on the back of the Premier League and television revenues they are trophy assets.

"The great thing about football clubs is also the bad thing, its only about money. You could become the owner of a non-league side and put in tens of millions.

"And be pretty guaranteed to be a Premier League within a certain time amount of time. It's just a question of how much but I reached my level of commitment.

"I don't want to think about how much owning a club has cost me, mainly because my misses goes mental every time she sees a figure."
