Chicago Fire defender Arne Friedrich has received his US green card.
The 33-year old former Germany international has been granted permanent residency in the United States and will no longer occupy an international spot on the Fire roster.
Friedrich, who arrived in Chicago as a free agent in March 2012, made 23 appearances in his debut season for the Fire. The 82-times capped Germany international was previously with VfL Wolfsburg after a lengthy stint with Hertha Berlin.
