Former Hearts skipper Steven Pressley claims the Edinburgh derby in recent years has been more entertaining than its Glaswegian counterpart. The Old Firm clash at Ibrox on Saturday was heavily criticised for the poor quality of play from both sides.
This Saturday sees Edinburgh get its chance to host its biggest football fixture when Hibernian travel across the capital to Hearts.
Pressley, now assistant to Scotland boss George Burley, said, "Things will never change with regards how big the derby games in Edinburgh are.
"I always found that the Edinburgh derby is a terrific game to be involved in, not only for the players, but also for the fans.
"You have two very passionate sets of supporters and they have a huge influence on the game.
"I was involved in some fantastic derby games and had some fantastic memories.
"And probably over the last few years, in terms of excitement, the Edinburgh derby has produced more exciting games than the Old Firm derbies.
"The Old Firm games carry a huge level of intensity but in terms of a football spectacle, I think the Edinburgh derby has been more exciting."
