Seattle Sounders forward Eddie Johnson hopes Obafemi Martins joins him at CenturyLink Field ahead of the 2013 MLS season.
The Levante striker is being heavily linked with a Trans-Atlantic shift to Seattle and former Fulham attacker Johnson feels the Nigerian would bring plenty of class to the Sounders line-up.
"I played against him a couple of times," Johnson told the Seattle Times of the former Newcastle United and Inter Milan man.
"One thing about football in England is the soccer world is really small, so we all have mutual friends. If (the signing) happens, we're happy and we're delighted.
"He's a very, very good player - someone at one point we all can say was supposed to be the next big thing when he was coming up as a younger player. He has that experience playing in Serie A and playing in the EPL and playing in the Bundesliga (with Wolfsburg) and now playing in La Liga.
"It says a lot about the type of player he is, so to add that type of player to the organization, I'd be delighted. Speaking on behalf of the team, I'm pretty sure those guys (would be), as well."
