Former Fiorentina midfielder Donadel to join Montreal Impact

Montreal Impact are set to sign another quality Italian footballer with news that Marco Donadel is set to join the MLS club.

In their short history, the Impact has already been home to such players as Alessandro Nesta, Marco Di Vaio, Bernardo Corradi and Matteo Ferrari and now it appears as though former Fiorentina midfielder Donadel will be joining that group.

The 31-year old, who is a free agent after recently leaving Napoli by mutual consent, told Tuttomercatoweb that he is heading to Canada for a change of lifestyle and will begin playing for the Impact in 2015.

"I am going to have a new experience and took this opportunity to get to know a new world," the AC Milan youth product said.

"As the MLS season is coming to a close, I cannot be registered before February when the new campaign kicks off.

"Canada was a lifestyle choice, I wanted to try myself in a different and certainly interesting League. I wasn't lacking offers from elsewhere, for example India, but that is a brief season and I wanted to be part of a more long-term project."

Donadel, who played for Italy at U21 level, spent six-and-a-half-years with Fiorentina and made over 200 appearances for La Viola. He has also played Parma, Lecce, Hellas Verona, Napoli, Sampdoria and AC Milan.
