Brett Emerton is genuinely excited about his debut with new club Sydney FC in the A-League opener weekend.
The former Blackburn Rovers midfielder and his Sky Blues teammates take on arch rivals Melbourne Victory, with Harry Kewell in tow, at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night and he is excited about what could be a very intense fixture.
"I think it's going to be a fiery encounter," Emerton told Fox Sports FC.
"Obviously there's been a long build-up to this game and a lot of talk about it, so I expect a European-type atmosphere or feel to the game - let's hope so anyway.
"It's going to be a special occasion and I'm just lucky to be a part of that.
"Hopefully we go down there and win, lose or draw, let's just hope both teams put on a good show because there's going to be a lot of people watching."
