New York City FC have announced the signing of Spain international David Villa on a three-year deal. The newly-formed Major League Soccer club, who are jointly owned by Manchester City and the New York Yankees, confirmed on their Twitter account that the 32-year-old becomes their first-ever player.
The former Barcelona player scored 13 league goals as Atletico Madrid in 2013-14 to become Spanish champions for the first time since 1996. He was also part of the side which was beaten in the Champions League final by neighbours Real on 24 May.
