Former Australian Rules Football star Craig Starcevich is the victim of the Brisbane Roar's poor financial situation.
Starcevich, who has been the Roar's strength and conditioning coach for the past two seasons, was shown the door over a month ago and is still seeking work in the industry.
"I see my role down the track as being more high-performance manager than hands-on strength and conditioning coach," Starcevich said.
"I still see the lure of being in a team and having success with a team as something I'm addicted to."
The Roar have defended their decision to cut Starcevich from their books, saying it was purely a business reason.
"Craig is a fantastic trainer. From my understanding it certainly wasn't a personal thing," Roar general manager Peter McLennan said.
"It was just... how do we look at our overheads, our running costs and tackle them more efficiently?"
