In-form Gomis grateful for Swansea support

Swansea City striker Bafetimbi Gomis has thanked the fans for their support during his time so far at the Liberty Stadium.

Gomis had to largely play second fiddle to Wilfried Bony at the start of the season and there were reports that the Frenchman was getting frustrated at the lack of first team opportunities coming his way.

However, the departure of Bony to Manchester City during the January transfer window handed Gomis a chance of regular first team football and the attacker has most certainly grabbed the opportunity with both hands by scoring four vital goals for the Swans in their past six matches.

The 29-year old is now considered an integral part of the Welsh side and he has gone on to thank the Swansea fans for supporting him during a difficult time in his debut campaign.

"I had a difficult first half of the season because I didn't play much,'' Gomis told the club's official website.

"I've had lots of difficult times, but I'm thankful to everyone at the club, the supporters and my teammates for their support.

"It's important to be liked for strikers. Since I've been in Wales the supporters have been great with me and the way I celebrated the first goal with them was to show them how much I appreciate their support. It was my way of saying thank you.

"The fans have always stuck by me and been patient with me. That's why I was very happy to help the team get an important three points against Hull for them. I'm working hard in training and I'm getting my confidence back.''
