Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson has Diego Forlan on notice should he lose Fernando Torres this summer. The People says the Kop chief knows Atletico Madrid ace Forlan - voted best player at the World Cup - well as he snatched the Europa League from his former Fulham team before showing his quality for Uruguay in South Africa.
Anfield officials contacted Atletico in the past few days to check Forlan's price and availability. The fee for the former Manchester United man would be around £15 million.
Forlan is willing to come back to the Premier League if the club is right. Tottenham have made inquiries for him but they would struggle to pay his wages, which are around £100,000-a-week.
