Blackburn Rovers are seeking £1 million for striker Jason Roberts.
The Mirror says Roberts has been told he can go after a row with boss Sam Allardyce on a pre-season tour to Australia, but the fee is sky high.
The experienced forward is on close to £35,000-a-week at Rovers and that makes the deal hard for anyone to make with the price on top.
Nottingham Forest and Leeds are interested but may wait until the Football League loan window opens next month.
