Forest boss McClaren desperate to bring in new faces

Nottingham Forest boss Steve McClaren has lost nine players in pre-season with only Andy Reid coming in. The former England boss says he needs new players in before their pre-season trip to Portugal next Wednesday.

He told BBC Radio Nottingham: "It would be great to see some new faces because at the moment we don't have a squad big enough to work with.

"We've just got to keep going and realise the urgency of the situation that we need players."

And McClaren understands why many supporters are getting concerned at the lack of transfer activity.

"It's very difficult to think of anything but assembling a squad and we have eight players to bring in," he added.

"I join their concerns and I think the big headline is that we need players.

"We are eight players short but it's important that we get the right quality and when you're doing that it is difficult to negotiate with clubs and with agents.

"There's a lot going on behind the scenes, everyone's ferreting around and working so hard."
