Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper informed Jonjo Shelvey to stay at home on Saturday.
The Premier League outfit did not use Shelvey when they took on Liverpool in the Premier League.
Fans were confused as to why the ex-Reds and Newcastle United midfielder did not feature in the squad.
Now it has been revealed, per The Telegraph, that Shelvey did not impress in training.
Manager Cooper had felt his training performances were not good enough to merit a starting place.
Shelvey was furious at possibly being on the bench, which led to a confrontation and his removal from the squad.
