FOOTIE TWEETS: Man City's Aguero gives MJ some love, Tottenham's Assou-Ekotto lives the high life, much ado about Wilshere says Hamann

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, like many other sportsmen, is a huge fan of NBA great Michael Jordan.

The former Chicago Bulls star turned 50 years of age during the week and the Argentine ace was quick to show MJ a bit of birthday love.

"Today, one of history's greatest and a man I admire turna 50. Congratulations to Michael Jordan!"

Aguero made sure he didn't forget his son Ben either: "I wanted to wait until the day was over to thank you all for the nice wishes you sent to Ben on his bday. A big, heartfelt thank you!!"

Also dishing out some love was Manchester United's Rio Ferdinand who was proud of his teammates after they managed to hold off Reading 2-1 in the FA Cup on Monday night. Portuguese winger Nani was the star of the show.

"Lovely, into the next round. Nani was electric tonight + was the difference. Vidic made some big headers at the end too. Good stuff!"

In that same match, Royals super-sub Adam Le Fondre, aka ALF, felt that he had a brilliant chance to level the scores after Nani's opener if it wasn't for the world-class save of David de Gea.

"Heads has finally stopped bangin! Great occasion for me today shame about the result!Fans were tremendous!! De gea made a wooldy from me!"

On the subject of heads banging, Reading's Noel Hunt came off second best in an aerial collision and required a couple of staples and stitches to patch things up.

"Thanks for all the messages!Head is fine got 5 stitches after the 4 staples.Gutted about the result but thought we fought to the end! Urzzzz"

Later in the week, Arsenal were brushed aside by Bayern Munich in the Champions League and Ferdinand had some choice words directed at journalist Piers Morgan who is a noted Gunners supporter.

"Is it that time again @piersmorgan ??!," Ferdinand initially tweeted.

He then followed up with: "All Arsenal fans I have nothing against you or ya team, its only@piersmorgan aka Mrs Doubtfire aka #Chins that I mean to dismantle..gently!"

Couldn't let the week go by without some insight from Joey Barton who made a very good point whilst watching Bayern dismantle Arsenal.

"When you look at Bayern. Kroos, Muller, Lahm, Schweinstiger and Alaba all homegrown. Whoever wrote the blueprint, must be proud right now."

Barton's Twitter punching partner Didi Hamann was also watching the German giants but was less than impressed by Gunners young gun Jack Wilshere who was spruiked by Bastian Schweinsteiger in the pre-match.

"Bayern tore an average Arsenal team apart today ....Wilshere world class? I don't think so"

And finally, Tottenham defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto certainly enjoys living the life of a professional footballer.

"Just wake up! And my chef mâke my food what à Life lol ...( chinese food) i lové it and i like thème ha ha ha lol"
