FOOTIE TWEETS: Ferdinand still loves Ronaldo; Aguero happy on Man City scoresheet; Saha does a Cantona

Brad Davies reviews the weekend's round of FA Cup and Premier League action as seen by the stars on Twitter.

With Liverpool vs Swansea the only Premier League action this weekend it was cup ties of the Champions League and FA variety that got players and pundits tweeting.

After one of the biggest build ups for any Champions League match in history, Rio Ferdinand was pleased with United's efforts against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu but was feeling a sense of deja vu: "Anyone else feel like they seen that @cristiano header from last night somewhere before?? #Moscow2008"

Reminiscing about the Red's success in the final 5 years ago, Ferdinand went on to describe his thoughts on Ronaldo these days: "In Moscow I ran to @cristiano to celebrate, last night I wanted to run to him...and kinda strangle him!! Be fair to him he has #Hangtime"

Meanwhile, Arsenal provided their fans with yet more misery in getting knocked out of the FA Cup on Saturday by Blackburn Rovers. It was high profile Gooner, Piers Morgan who once again took aim at the man in the long puffy jacket: "It's not Wenger FC, it's Arsenal FC. He gave us great service for a long time and deserves our respect & thanks. But it's over."

It's unlikely Piers was the only one longing for the good old days: "And on that depressing note, have a nice Sunday. I'm going to watch my Invincibles DVD and weep gentle tears of nostalgia. #Arsenal"

Sergio Aguero felt that City's 4-0 demolition job on Leeds United was just what the doctor ordered: "We needed a game like this - playing the ball right, with precision on the attack and without a single goal against."

Aguero's son, Ben seems to be the secret ingredient in Kun's scoring success, once again providing the inspiration for the striker finding the back of the net. "Did Ben ask me to score for him again...? Twice! I made good of it, esp. bc he's coming to spend his 4th bday with me. Love you, son! City fans will be hoping he asks for a hat-trick next weekend against Chelsea.

Pablo Zabaleta wasn't getting carried away though, deciding to stick to the facts: "Solid performance by the team today to go through to the next round. @MCFC will face Barnsley FC in the last eight of the FA Cup."

After the disappointment of defeat to West Brom last week, Luis Suarez was using victory over Swansea to suck up to the supporters: "Very happy to win and give a nice victory to the fans!! Now thinking about the next game, which is very important!!"

On a final note, even though Louis Saha recently left the Premier League to join Lazio, he continues to dish out wise words to his Franglish speaking followers with gems like this: "Consider yourself has a special stone. Emeruade, Rubi, Diamond etc...Not a simple 1 that can b easily throw to do flick on the surface of lacs."

Cheers, Louis. I think we get the drift.
