Fletcher urges Watford, Stoke target Berahino to ‘get his head down’ if he stays at West Brom

West Bromwich Albion captain Darren Fletcher has implored Saido Berahino to focus on his current club if he again fails to get a move away from The Hawthorns this summer.

The 22-year-old landed himself in hot water with Albion last summer when threatening to strike on Twitter after his proposed transfer to Tottenham was blocked.

In the current transfer window, Berahino is again the subject of interest from the likes of Watford and Stoke City but if he remains in the West Midlands, Fletcher has urged him to concentrate on doing everything he can to consistently score goals for the Baggies instead of worrying about things out of his control.

"If he signs great and if he doesn't he might be here for another season so we want him to get his head down and score as many goals as possible," said midfielder Fletcher.

"We want good players to stay here because you have to pay a lot of money to replace them and Saido is no different.

"We know Saido is a great goalscorer and you need goalscorers in this league but we need a Saido who is fit and strong and with his head wanting to play for West Bromwich Albion."
