Steven Fletcher is set to become the most expensive Scottish player when he signs a £15million deal with Sunderland today.
The Wolves striker is expected to sign a long-term contract with the Black Cats with the transfer fee to make him the costliest Scot in history, adding to the £3m Burnley paid Hibernian in 2009 and the £7m Wolves paid a year later.
However, the move won't necessarily change Fletcher's status in the Scotland national team with manager Craig Levein still opting against selection of the 25-year old.
Scotland kick-off their 2014 World Cup qualification against Serbia in early September but Fletcher is unlikely to be included as he has yet to make amends with Levein after stepping down from the team two years ago via text message.
