Fleetwood release Barton statement as deleted tweet reveals alleged clash

Barnsley striker Cauley Woodrow blasted Fleetwood Town boss Joey Barton after an alleged clash with manager Daniel Stendel following Saturday's game.

Woodrow took to social media to slam Barton, branding him "foul" before deleting the post.

According to reports read out on BBC 5 Live Sport, former Burnley captain Barton was involved in a "furious clash" with Stendel in the tunnel at Oakwell, and had to be "separated by stewards and police".

Barnsley released a statement in regards to the alleged incident:

"The Club can confirm there was an alleged incident in the tunnel area that took place following the conclusion of today's match, which South Yorkshire police are currently investigating. The Club is assisting the police with its enquiries and, as a result, we are not in a position to make any further comment at this time."

Fleetwood have this morning released their own statement:

"Fleetwood Town have been made aware of an alleged incident following Saturday's game against Barnsley. We are currently establishing the facts and will not make any further comment at this time."
