Fleetwood manager Barton breaks silence over assault allegations

Fleetwood Town manager Joey Barton has denied allegations he assaulted Barnsley boss Daniel Stendel on Saturday, it is reported.

South Yorkshire Police were investigating an incident during Saturday's League One clash, which Barnsley won 4-2.

Stendel was left with facial injuries and needing emergency dental treatment after an incident at Oakwell on Saturday, says the Mirror.

"With regards to the alleged incident on Saturday following our game against Barnsley, I emphatically deny all the allegations made," former Burnley captain Barton tweeted.

"Given this matter has not been formally closed, it would be inappropriate for me to make any further comment."
