Joey Barton is expected to take training at Fleetwood Town on Tuesday.

The Mirror says Barton is due to return to Fleetwood on Tuesday to take training after allegedly flooring Barnsley boss Daniel Stendel in a tunnel fracas.

But League One Town insist neither they nor boss Barton have been since contacted by police about the incident.

Barnsley manager Stendel was left bloodied on the ground and needing emergency dental treatment following a clash with former Burnley captain Barton.

Barton is now due to take training as usual on Tuesday and hopes to remain in charge with the support of owner Andy Pilley.

He is understood to be claiming he barged into the back of his German counterpart, who fell head first into the metal support inside the tunnel, damaging his two front teeth and leaving Stendel bloodied and shaken.
