Flamengo chiefs insist AC Milan star Ronaldinho wants to join the Brazilian club.
Flamengo President Patricia Amorim is understood to have dined with Ronaldinho last week to discuss a return home.
"Ronaldinho said it to me personally, as my own ears heard it from his mouth: he wants to join us this year," said Patricia.
The Flamengo patron says she is already in negotiations with Ronaldinho's brother and agent, Roberto de Assis.
The wages would be worth around £300,000 per month and paid for in part through sponsorship deals.
