Five defenders battling for Spurs stay

Five of Tottenham's senior defenders are battling to save their careers at White Hart Lane.

The Sunday Express says after taking a long, hard look at his squad new coach Juande Ramos has put some of his dithering defenders on trial for the next six matches.

If they continue making mistakes that have seen them leak around two goals a game in the Premier League, ruthless Ramos is prepared to replace them when the January transfer window opens.

Michael Dawson is the surprise name on Ramos's hit list but, like at least four of his team-mates, he has until early January to show his recent mistakes were just a blip and he has a future at White Hart Lane.

French youngster Younes Kaboul, who has had a nightmare spell recently, is joined by the injury-jinxed Anthony Gardner, Ricardo Rocha and Young-Pyo Lee at the first team exit door.
