Fiorentina striker Adrian Mutu is out of their Champions League playoff with AC Milan.

The Viola star dislocated his elbow several times in recent years and has decided to use the summer months to "stabilise" the arm.

"The knee is showing no swelling despite significant strain during training and above all the player feels no pain," read a note on the official Fiorentina website.

"Nonetheless, considering the risks and the lack of match fitness for a Serie A encounter, Mutu will not be available for Sunday's meeting with Milan."
