Fiorentina signing Micah Richards has explained his decision to leave Manchester City. The one-year loan deal effectively ends Richards' 13-year career with City.
He wrote on micahrichards.com: "I've been at City for 12 years, so I obviously leave with mixed emotions. I'm really looking forward to the new challenge the loan move to Fiorentina will offer, and the chance to play abroad.
"I just wanted to thank all the City fans and staff for their incredible support since I made my debut in 2005. They're the best fans in the country, and I'll always love the club.
"For Fiorentina fans, ciao! I'm looking forward to working hard for the team, playing for such a historic club and getting to grips with Italian football."
