Pedro is proud to have taken the No9 shirt at Fiorentina.

The 22-year-old striker completed his transfer from Fluminense for €14m plus 20 per cent of a future sale.

“It's an honour for me to be given the Number 9 Viola jersey, the one worn by an idol like Gabriel Batistuta, and I hope to make history in Florence too," Pedro told Globo Esporte.

“The negotiations all happened very quickly. My staff analysed the offer and along with my family, we chose the best option. Thank goodness, we had time to finish the deal with Fiorentina.

“It's an important adventure for me, I am very happy and hope to give my best in this shirt."

Pedro is excited to be playing with fellow new signing Franck Ribery.

“I always watched Franck on TV or played him on a videogame! He's wonderful and I hope to be ready to play against Juventus. It'd be gratifying to make my Serie A debut against a legend like Cristiano Ronaldo."
