Fiorentina defeated Benevento on Wednesday night to reach the Coppa Italia round of 16.

The Viola won 2-1, with Benevento making it a nervous finish for the Serie A outfit.

Nikola Milenkovic opened the scoring for Fiorentina when he headed home.

The Viola doubled their lead straight after the restart with Riccardo Sottil at the back post, his header parried the first time, but he turned in on the rebound.

Benevento pulled a goal back via Moncini, but Viola goalkeeper Antonio Rosati was outstanding on the night and kept them at bay. It was Rosati's first senior game in two years.
