City goalkeeper Joe Hart was the main man, vindicating Roberto Mancini's decision to start him ahead of Shay Given, as he produced a string of top class saves to continually deny Spurs' advances; the home side extremely unlucky not to hit the lead in the first half.

Mancini started three of his summer signings - Aleksandar Kolarov, David Silva and Yaya Toure - whilst Harry Redknapp went with a standard Spurs line-up for the contest which the home side were left ruing what could have been.
