Figo insists Raul ready for Real Madrid job

Luis Figo says former Real Madrid teammate Raul is ready for the first team job.

Raul has just completed his first season in charge of Castilla and has been mentioned as a candidate to succeed Zinedine Zidane after the Frenchman's resignation.

"I'd like to see Raul (take the job) as he is a friend and a brother," said Figo.

"But it is a decision of the club. In the future, if not already, Raúl will be qualified and will have the opportunity to lead the team of his life and that he knows so well."

On Zidane, Figo said: "It is a hard and sad time because he leaves an entity that he knows well and has achieved a lot.

"As a friend, I hope he does well.

"Each person has their experience. Leaving for whatever reason is complicated when you are in your city, you are comfortable and in such a big team. I don't know the reasons and it's difficult to analyse it from the outside. It is hard and if he has transmitted it, it is because he has felt it."
