FIFA rejects plans to hold 2022 World Cup re-vote

FIFA have turned down calls to hold another vote for the 2022 World Cup.

At a Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) debate on Thursday, consisting of 47 nations, a conclusion was made that there should be a re-vote for the FIFA tournament which is to be held in Qatar in seven years' time.

The PACE members believe the actions of former Asian Football Confederation president Mohamed bin Hammam, who was banned for life from FIFA-related activities for allegedly paying $USD5million to football officials for their support for Qatar 2022, should be enough to cast another vote regarding the hosting rights.

However, FIFA have denied that any rule breaches for the bidding efforts of both Russia for the 2018 World Cup and Qatar in 2022 were of 'limited scope' and will not take the hosting rights away from either country.
