FIFA announce The Best nominees: Ronaldo v Messi; Leeds boss Bielsa rivals Klopp

FIFA have released the nominees for their The Best award.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi will go head-to-head yet again as the finalists for The Best FIFA awards have been announced.

The legendary pair will battle it out with Bayern Munich and Poland forward Robert Lewandowski - seen by many as the favourite for the award - for the Best Men's Player prize, with the other finalists also announced as the initial shortlists were whittled down.

Liverpool's Premier League winning manager Jurgen Klopp will take on Leeds United's Marcelo Bielsa and Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick for the Men's Coach of the Year award, which Klopp claimed in 2019 having picked up the Champions League.

Reds star Alisson Becker is in the running for Goalkeeper of the Year, taking on Bayern and Germany stalwart Manuel Neuer and the Atletico Madrid stopper Jan Oblak.

The awards will take place in Zurich next Thursday, December 17.
