Football Federation Australia have said they will play no part in getting Harry Kewell back to the domestic league.
The former Leeds United and Liverpool star, who has recently finished a contract with Turkish club Galatasaray, is being linked with a move to the A-League with Melbourne Victory leading the charge from Sydney FC and Newcastle Jets.
It would be a major boost to the national competition to get a player of Kewell's stature but FFA say that they won't get involved in any discussions between the player and prospective clubs.
"Matters of contracting marquee players are between clubs and agents," an FFA spokesman told The World Game.
"We have no plans currently to intervene in negotiations between clubs and their potential targets."
