Football Federation Australia will investigate comments made by Melbourne Victory captain Kevin Muscat in regards to the Asian Champions League.

Following the scoreless draw with Beijing Guoan on Wednesday night that knocked the Victory out of the competition, Muscat told Fox Sports that the ACL was not enjoyable to be a part of.

"To be honest, playing in Asia, is not all that enjoyable," he said.

"People going down left, right and centre, stalling for time, it's not that enjoyable playing in the Champions League.

"I think it's evident for people to see. Being involved in it and watching it I can understand why people don't come and watch. People going down... it just seems that authorities can't take control."

Now, FFA chief Ben Buckley has slammed the comments made by Muscat, saying they were disrespectful and that the Victory should take a good hard look at themselves.

''The comments made by Kevin Muscat after the match appear to be disrespectful,'' Buckley said. ''I have requested a transcript of what he said and I will take the matter up with the club.

''If Kevin's comments reflect the attitude of the leadership of Melbourne Victory, then they should withdraw from the competition and let others who want to participate take part,'' Buckley added. ''Such an attitude is clearly an impediment to success and Melbourne Victory's performance in the tournament is reflective of that.

''The AFC Champions League is a premium competition and it opens up a range of commercial opportunities and the chance for players to compete at the highest level.

''Adelaide United have demonstrated that with the right approach you can overcome any challenges around travel and scheduling and achieve impressive results.''
