Southampton are eyeing Feyenoord defender Stefan Vrij.

Saints boss Nigel Adkins has been active in the Dutch transfer market this summer and made an approach to Feyenoord for youngster Vrij.

Vrij has also been a long-term target for Arsenal chief scout Steve Rowley.

Saints' interest is concerning Feyenoord, which already fear losing fellow centre-half Ron Vlaar to Aston Villa.
