Feyenoord chief Giovanni van Bronckhorst has returned to Holland after a spell at Manchester City.

He spent time with City chief Txiki Begiristain, who was still sports director at Barcelona when Van Bronckhorst played there.

"He told me how the club continues to develop. We all see how the Sheikh has Manchester City as a project to put Abu Dhabi on the world map. But there is now a very different story the club pumping in quick money," said Van Bronckhorst after his visit.

"The rapid success came from the early big purchases. There is overpaid for players there, they know that there too. But more success is sure to come."
