Juventus coach Ciro Ferrara has defended his work after the midweek defeat to Bordeaux.

Ferrara has copped criticism over Juve's performance in the Champions League setback - including from his own players.

"We are going to Cagliari with determination, because we want to be more consistent, even if clearly we cannot win every match. There is no such thing as an unbeatable team," said Ferrara.

"Pressure is normal, as Juve are accustomed to winning and fighting for the top spots. Everyone expects a great deal, but I don't think we're a disaster."

On their looming clash with Inter Milan and the racism controversy involving Mario Balotelli, Ferrara is adamant Juve are doing all they can.

"I am against all forms of racism, just as I am against all types of insults against anyone," noted Ferrara.

"Juve have done everything to calm this situation down and are not held hostage by anybody. It is a very difficult battle because the Italians have a bad way of looking at sport.

"I remember being upset and confused when I first came up to Turin to play and heard all these chants against 'dirty' Neapolitans.

"When I see a child go to the stadium with his parents and make nasty hand gestures at opponents, I don't understand how that can happen. If my child did that, I'd give him a slap."
