Manchester City are chasing Athletic Bilbao striker Fernando Llorente.
Llorente is a favorite of Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, but he is likely to face disappointment should City make concrete their interest.
AS says City have scouts have regularly watched the 26-year-old in action this season.
City are willing to offer Llorente a £6m-a-year salary, more than doubling his current wage in Spain.
"I spoke about it with Fernando Torres and Xabi Alonso and they told me the fans live for football in England, where there is respect for players and also the tradition that surrounds everything.
"Perhaps I will try it in a few years time but at the moment I feel at home in La Liga."Llorente, also a target for Tottenham, told Esquire: "I've been told many times that my style would suit the Premier League.
