Fernando insists FA Cup is 'important' for Man City

Manchester City's Fernando says the FA Cup is a very vital competition for the club.

The reigning Premier League and Capital One Cup champions came from behind to defeat Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 in the third round on Sunday which set up a fourth round clash with Middlesbrough later this month.

In the wake of the fighting win, which came courtesy of a second-half James Milner brace, Brazilian midfielder Fernando was looking to improve in the latter stages of the prestigious cup in order to add another piece of silverware to the Eastlands trophy cabinet.

"The last match was really tough but we know we have a lot of quality and we have a lot of ambition in this competition," he told City TV.

"We hope the next game will be easier and we can get the victory.

"It is a very important competition that City wants very much, we know our capabilities and we will work hard to try and win this competition."
