Sir Alex Ferguson could take his Manchester United side to former club Dunfermline Athletic for a possible pre-season friendly.
The Fife club are suffering massive financial difficulties and Ferguson told ex-Pars teammate Roy Barry recently that he would help out if need be.
"I went down a few weeks ago to see Man United and Everton play and finished up getting quite drunk with Sir Alex," Barry told the Daily Record.
"We were having a chat about the problems up here and I said 'what can you do to help us'?
"He said, 'I'll send a team up and that will raise a few quid.' I looked at him and I couldn't believe him for a minute. He said it will take time to organise.
"He said, 'you get big Jim (Leishman) to call me, there will be no bother.'"
