Sir Alex Ferguson twice failed to land Barcelona star Alexis Sanchez during his time in charge of Manchester United. The People says Fergie was given the chance to sign Sanchez from Italian side Udinese three years ago - but took too long to decide on a deal. United eventually made an offer of £27million for the super South American but Barcelona had come into the chase and they lost out.
Sanchez, who scored twice at Wembley against England, was willing to go to Old Trafford and his agent met Ferguson in Manchester months before the Barca deal.
But Fergie said "no" as his mind was set on signing Robin van Persie from Arsenal instead and the chance was gone.
